Case Study: NCTR

Kidd was hired by the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) for a leading-edge social media transportation project. The study would analyze the impact and implications that social media tools had on the transportation industry.

Specifically for transit or commuter organizations, the constant motion of activity gives the unique need to keep users up-to-date. These new media platforms allow for more personalize real-time communication yielding such results as increased ridership, awareness and community support from stakeholders.

The overall study and report – which will be released to the public in late 2009 – provides end users with a handbook detailing:

  • Types of social media tools available
  • Pros and Cons for each
  • Do and Don’t lists
  • Transportation-specific recommendations

This study has already gained statewide and national attention, as our team will be presenting its finding at both the Florida Public Transportation Association and American Public Transportation Association annual conferences.
