Trolley Expands Service With New Route

The Career Connector will open doors for residents of Bay County

November 5, 2008

Panama City, Fla. – Beginning November 10, 2008, Bay Town Trolley will expand its service once again with its newest route, The Career Connector. Traveling through downtown and the surrounding business district, Bay county residents can take advantage of the free service Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

To help ease time spent in traffic the Career Connector will run on 15 minute intervals throughout the day and two trolleys will run the route during the morning and evening commute. Notable stops along the route include Bay Medical, A. D. Harris High School, the Bay County Court House and the Bay County Government Center. Although the Career Connector is a one-way route, riders can transfer to Bay Town Trolley routes one through four before hitting the end of the line.

“It’s our mission to provide dependable transportation and the Career Connector is just one more way we’re expanding service and enhancing the quality of lives for those in Bay County,” said Beth Coulliette, Bay Town Trolley’s Executive Director. ”Whether it’s allowing people new employment opportunities or handling their personal endeavors more efficiently, we are confident that this route is going to open doors to many of those around us.”

The Career Connector is funded through a Florida Department of Transportation Job Access Reverse Commute grant with the purpose of accommodating riders to and from the workplace. This comes at a time when Bay Town Trolley’s year to date ridership is up 14 percent from 2007.
